London is one of the most popular cities in the world, however, what makes it special for you? For me it is the diversity of cultures and the amount of places to visit. It is one of those cities that has something for everyone.

In this blog post I am sharing with you my top places to visit for those who do not have much time to visit the city.

Buckingham Palace

You can´t miss the Queen´s Palace. I highly recommend visiting it early in the morning to avoid crowds and take all the pictures you want. If you are interested in seeing the famous Changing the Guard ceremony, it takes places at 10:45 outside Buckingham palace.

To know more about dates visit the following website¨:https://changing-guard.com/dates-buckingham-palace.html

London Eye

The London Eye is one of the main attractions in London and I suggest buying the tickets in advance. If you book them in advance, you can save some money and time queing to get the tickets on the day as the queue itself tends to be long!

Another tip is although London weather is very unpredictable check the weather the day before to make sure you have a nice view.

Big Ben

Big Ben is known as one of the most iconic symbols of London for its landsmark. It is currently undertaking refurbishment works and this is the reason why, if you decide to visit it, you will see a big scaffolding around the Big Ben. The aim of this project is to preserve the building which improves the clock mechanism and the health and security of the Big ben. Although finding the building like this it can be disappointing, it is necessary. The project is until 2020, however, the upper section of the Tower will be uncovered as the project progresses so you may be lucky to take better pictures.

Oxford Street

This is a must for those who love shopping. You can find a wide variety of shops from international brands to souvenir shops. You will always find it very busy, however, getting up early and being there as soon as the shops open can be much better than getting there at 1pm.

Hyde Park

It is one of the most famous parks in London as you may already know. The park is incredibly big and the best thing you can do on a sunny day is have picnic. It is a very lively park and concerts and events always take place so before visiting London, check if there is any event you may be interested in.

Tower Bridge

It is one of the most famous bridges in the world and, therefore, it is one of the most instagrammable places in London. Next to it, it is the Tower of London where you can immerse yourself in royal history and meet the ravens.

King Cross Station

I recommend visiting this train station because it is beautiful inside and it is a must for those who love Harry Potter! Yes, this is the place where you can take a picture in Platform 9 ¾.

Camden Town

I would say that Camden Town is one of the most creative and original places in London. You can see a diversity of colours and food. It is nice to walk around, grab some food and see the independent stalls.

My favourite hidden gems

Little Venice

You can find this beautiful hidden next to Candem Town. It is amazing to walk and see the river and boats and enjoying the atmosphere.

Bywater Street

This is a colourful street in the neighbourhood of Chelsea perfect for pictures.

Primrose Hill

This is one of my favourite places in London since you can get some spectacular views across London. It is located next to the beautiful Regent Park which has a Zoo.

Sky Garden

Although I haven’t been yet, not only do you see beautiful London views but you can get some food and drinks. The garden is free, however, you need to book your visit in advance to ensure a spot!

These are my top London places for a weekend. However, I haven’t included any museums because in my opinion you can spend many hours in the British Museum and The National Gallery and wouldn’t have time to see other places.

I hope this is helpful and you have enjoyed reading this article.

P.S. I have created a new section on my website where I will upload bucketlists of the places I visit. If you want to download the London Bucketlist click HERE.
